RIT Adoption of the National Incident Management System
The National Incident Management System (NIMS) is a comprehensive national approach to incident management. This system provides a consistent nationwide template to enable Federal, State, and local governments, and private-sector organizations to work together effectively and efficiently to prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from domestic incidents, regardless of cause, size, or complexity.
Adoption and implementation of NIMS is mutually beneficial to RIT and the greater community.
Therefore, the National Incident Management System shall be the university standard for incident management. RIT’s lead department for NIMS implementation and incident management will be Global Risk Management Services, through the executive leadership. Colleges, divisions and departments are expected to support NIMS activities, including planning, training and incident management.
